FPGAs in Machine Vision Applications: Emerging Capabilities for These Computation Powerhouses
Presented by:
Ray Hoare, Concurrent EDAFPGAs have evolved from simple logic devices to computation powerhouses that are able to process images faster and more reliably than a CPU. This talk will cover current and emerging capabilities for FPGAs and address common scenarios where FPGAs should be used and cases when they’re overkill.
The presentation will also cover available tools and where FPGA computations should be performed: in the camera, the frame grabber, in the host, or is it overkill? Application examples include 3D metrology, laser tracking, additive manufacturing, machine inspection, and high-speed control.
