Optical Interference Filters and Their Effects on Wavefront Distortion

Presented by: Jean-Michel Guay, Iridian Spectral Technologies

In optical imaging systems, understanding the distortion of the optical wavefront due to optical components is critical. Often, only the distortion caused by the substrates and other insignificant components are considered. On top of this, the distortion of optics coated with thin film interference filters is not always properly included.

In this webinar, Guay presents an overview of optical interference filters with a focus on thin film thickness uniformity and the transmission and reflection phase properties of the filter. These parameters are critical for properly determining the wave-front distortion of a coated optic.
