Serial Communication for Quick Integration of Automated Laser Output Measurements

Presented by: Félicien Legrand, Gentec-EO

How quickly can you automate laser beam power, energy, or profile measurements in your control environment? Accurate laser performance diagnostics can be integrated into various laser systems and bring multiple benefits, such as tracking several laser units simultaneously, ensuring traceability, improving lab or production efficiency, and planning preventive maintenance before failures happen. Running live diagnostics for dynamic process correction can also benefit from the right predictions based on data gathered using simple tools.

Legrand demonstrates how serial commands can be used in serial terminal emulators for direct laser power measurement and run Python script examples for quick control of laser power detectors to give a good start to your automation strategies. Also, a .NET pipeline will be presented for customized beam profiling.
