Ultra-Compact Spectrometer Technology for Practical Applications

Presented by: Bill Choi, nanoLambda

Choi covers the past, present, and future of optical spectroscopy -- highlighting everyday applications. In contrast to other fast-moving IT technologies and industries, optical spectroscopy lags decades behind due to a lack of technological breakthroughs.

Recently, industrial and consumer markets have shown a growing need for spectral sensing in an ultra-compact size and at an affordable cost for material detection and analysis. This session compares technologies and solutions by balancing strengths and potential issues. Lastly, Choi attempts to forecast optical spectroscopy's future trends and market potential.

About the presenter
Bill ChoiBill Choi founded nanoLambda in 2005, and nanoLambda Korea in 2010, with a vision of affordable measurement by the people. Before founding nanoLambda, Choi worked for Samsung Electronics for 17 years in Korea and the United States, where he was a senior engineer and also had various positions in sales, marketing, and strategy in the information and communications business.

Choi also worked for AcceLight Networks, a start-up company in the US, as a vice president of Asia business. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Seoul National University, Korea, in 1984, and MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, US.
