From Single Sensor to System Insight: Multisensor Fusion at the Edge

Presented by: James Falconer, Pleora Technologies

This session explores how embedded multisensor and multimodal aggregation is set to transform inspection systems. As inspection applications grow more complex, there is increasing demand to push intelligence closer to the edge by combining data from multiple imaging and non-imaging sensors within embedded platforms.

Falconer will discuss practical approaches to real-time sensor aggregation, data fusion, and results visualization, highlighting how these techniques improve accuracy, reduce latency, and enable new inspection use cases. Real-world examples will illustrate how synchronized acquisition and fusion of diverse data types can deliver more comprehensive insights than single-sensor systems. Attendees will gain an understanding of key integration challenges when building scalable, high-performance embedded inspection solutions.


About the presenter
James FalconerJames Falconer has a solid background in engineering and aerospace, with experience in research, teaching, and product management. Currently, he is product manager at Pleora Technologies and serves as the vice-chair of the GigE Vision Technical Committee at AIA - Advancing Vision + Imaging. Previous roles include being a senior field application engineer and production engineer. Falconer has a master’s degree in applied science and aerospace engineering from Carleton University.
