Lighting at the Speed of Automation: Designing for 1,000 fps and Beyond
Presented by:
Lindsey Sullivan, CCS America, Inc.As inspection speeds increase, lighting decisions that once felt minor can quickly become the reason an application fails. A setup that works at slower speeds may produce inconsistent results when exposure times shrink; parts move faster, and the system has less margin for error. This presentation introduces a practical framework for evaluating high-speed machine vision inspections through the four cornerstones that determine image quality and repeatability: motion freeze, photon count, timing integrity, and thermal limits.
Attendees will learn how to apply this framework to identify likely weak points earlier in the design process and make more informed lighting decisions. The session will also include a real application example showing how to move from initial testing to a reliable lighting solution at production speed.
About the presenter
Lindsey Sullivan has spent eight years as an engineer evaluating machine vision applications in every industry. She started as a sales engineer at Keyence before moving to an application engineer at CCS America, Inc., a machine vision lighting company.
In her current role as technical marketing manager, she is sharing her expertise so that industrial automation companies can design high-accuracy systems without troubleshooting lighting challenges after machines are built.
