Advancing Optical Metrology Beyond the Vibration-Controlled Lab

Optical components are becoming more complex, while the environments in which they must be measured are becoming more demanding. Vibration-insensitive interferometry expands where high-precision optical testing can be performed, enabling engineers to characterize aspheres, freeforms, IR optics, and assembled optical systems without limiting measurement to highly controlled laboratory conditions.

This webinar will explore how advances in interferometry are extending measurements across wavelengths and into manufacturing and integration environments. Attendees will see how bringing measurement closer to the point of fabrication and assembly can provide faster process feedback, simplify qualification, reduce measurement bottlenecks, and help identify problems earlier. Schmit will also examine how these capabilities can support more efficient workflows while maintaining the precision required for today’s increasingly sophisticated optical components and systems.

About the presenter
Joanna Schmit, Ph D. is principal optical engineer at 4D Technology which she joined in 2016. She graduated with a master’s degree in optics from Warsaw University of Technology and received her doctorate at University of Arizona at James Wyant College of Optical Sciences. She has worked for over 30 years in the area of optical metrology with a focus on interferometry, and specifically on phase shifting and white light interferometry. She is author of 15 patents, multiple book chapters and scientific papers. She is a Fellow and active member of SPIE.
