Processor Trends in Compact Industrial Cameras

Vision applications across industrial and medical markets are demanding improvements in camera size, speed, intelligence, and power consumption. Additional requirements for industrial markets include safety, security, and extended temperature performance and life cycles. Cheng explores how new multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSOC) solutions offer increased performance per watt and unlock intelligence, resolution, and speed for compact form factor cameras that, in the past, would have been limited to 1080p or even 720p resolution and 30 fps. She also discusses how MPSOC products can enable the full range of industrial imaging function and performance, including custom image processing, application-specific support and AI acceleration, and industrial-grade life cycle, reliability, safety, and security.


About the presenter
Susan Cheng is the marketing lead for industrial vision at Xilinx. She is responsible for driving solutions for the machine vision and video surveillance markets. Cheng has over 15 years of experience in marketing imaging technology products, including sensors, software, and image processing. Prior to joining Xilinx in 2019, her past experience includes working for companies such as Macnica Americas, Aptina, Tessera, and Kodak. She has a BSEE/CS and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
