Stability and Noise Measurement Analysis of WGM Self-Injection Locked Lasers
Presented by:
Danny Fung, OEwavesLasers with very long coherence lengths or ultra-low frequency/phase noise serve critical applications including coherent communications, lidar, optical sensing, quantum operations, and advanced metrology, among other emerging applications.
High-quality factor (Q) whispering gallery mode (WGM) enabled single frequency CW lasers exhibit unique characteristics critical to advanced research and development in these areas. Key parameters and behaviors such as phase/frequency and relative intensity noises, intrinsic and effective linewidths, short- and long-term stability, modulation response, wavelength range, as well as measurement tools will be analyzed and presented.
About the presenter
Danny Fung is currently the general manager of the microwave photonic test and measurement group and the acting director of international sales at OEwaves. He has over 35 years of experience in microwave photonic source and fiber optic system product marketing and applications.
Prior to joining OEwaves, he held various engineering, marketing and sales roles in companies including C-Cor, Ortel, and Motorola.
