High-Power Laser Measurement: Challenges and Solutions
Presented by:
Mark Slutzki, MKS OphirMonitoring laser behavior in high-power applications (such as industrial processes, military directed energy, etc.) is critical to keeping your process running properly. However, that monitoring – the laser measurement itself – is not trivial. There are many "little things" one could do that might unknowingly mess with the measurement or even damage the instrument.
Learn what some of the potential challenges are and best practices for how to deal with them correctly. Examples include at what point should the cooling water be turned on, and how should the water channels be purged of water residue after use? Getting issues like these wrong could actually damage your expensive laser power sensor.
About the presenter
Mark Slutzki has been with Ophir since 2004 and serves as product manager for power and energy measurement solutions. Prior to that, he held similar positions in the semiconductor and telecom industries. Slutzki did military service as a research physicist working on special projects in the Israeli Air Force. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electro-optics and applied physics. He can be reached at mark.slutzki@mksinst.com.
