Multimodal Machine Vision Applications Demand Integrated Lighting Solutions
Multimodal Machine Vision Applications Demand Integrated Lighting Solutions
Presented by:
Steve Kinney, Smart Vision LightsFacing continued labor shortages with no staffing relief in sight, manufacturers and warehouses need to automate increasingly challenging tasks. In this presentation, Kinney discusses the new multicamera, multimodal machine vision paradigm that is required to manage process variables and edge cases that were once handled by personnel. Instead of just a single camera and lighting technology solutions, today’s most complex automation tasks often require machine vision systems that tightly integrate various technologies and are deployed in combination with machine learning. Kinney highlights the latest enabling innovations in machine vision lighting that optimize existing applications and unlock new use cases.
About the presenter
Steve Kinney — director of training, compliance, and technical solutions at Smart Vision Lights — is an electrical engineer who joined Pulnix America when he entered the machine vision industry in 1998. Going on to work for Basler, JAI, CCS, and now Smart Vision Lights, Kinney has many years of machine vision imaging experience and has become an expert in industrial cameras and imagers. Since starting work in the lighting sector of machine vision in early 2015, he now combines camera expertise with machine vision lighting to bring an expanded knowledge base to the machine vision market.
Kinney has been an active A3 member and is a current member of the A3 board of directors. He has been a past chairman of the A3’s Camera Link Committee, beginning with its inception in 1999. As chair of one of the major standards committees, Kinney has also been a participant the G3’s Future Standards Forum.
