Optical Interference Filters and Their Effects on Wavefront Distortion

Often, only the distortion caused by the substrates and other insignificant components are considered. On top of this, the distortion of optics coated with thin film interference filters is not always properly included.
In this webinar, Guay presents an overview of optical interference filters with a focus on thin film thickness uniformity and the transmission and reflection phase properties of the filter. These parameters are critical for properly determining the wave-front distortion of a coated optic.
About the presenter
Jean-Michel Guay, Ph.D., is a research scientist at Iridian Spectral Technologies, now part of IDEX Corp., and has been with the company since 2019. He earned his doctorate in physics at the University of Ottawa and has more than 17 years of experience in various laser applications and metrology techniques. He is part of the Iridian team that actively researches and develops new capabilities to meet customer requirements.
