Phase-Shift Analysis Benefits in Optical Metrology
Presented by:
Kevin Harding, Optical Metrology Solutions LLCOver the past 40 years, the benefits of using optical metrology system have provided better speed, better accuracy, and more complete data for the dimensional measurement of items from medical devices to automotive transmissions.
One of the tools that has facilitated this expansion of use if dimensional analysis by means of phase shifting methods. Phase shifting methods are used in many systems from interferometry of precision optics to 3D mapping in-process monitoring of forming applications.
This presentation will take a critical look at the basic advantages offered by phase shift methods and highlight applications such as automotive panel and aerodynamic surfaces as well as small features such as surface texture, machined edges and surface blends where phase shifting is used today
About the presenter
Kevin Harding has over 45 years of experience and the development and use of optical metrology methods. With over 80 short courses taught, 200 published papers, 88 US patents, and 2 books on the subject along with over 40 years working with industry, Harding provides a broad and unbiased perspective on the dos and don’ts of optical metrology. He is a fellow of SPIE and has been recognized for his work by AIA (A3), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the Engineering Society of Detroit.
