Lens Requirements for Different Harsh Environment Applications
Lens Requirements for Different Harsh Environment Applications
Presented by:
Jaylond Martin, Edmund OpticsThe growth of automated systems has introduced machine vision into new applications outside of traditional, controlled environments. These new applications are often exposed to harsh conditions including shock and vibration, water spray, humidity, contaminants, and temperature swings. The calibration of machine vision systems can also be thrown off after being loaded onto trucks and dropped onto factory floors.
A new generation of imaging lenses has emerged to meet these demanding conditions. These lenses allow machine vision systems to meet high-performance requirements while braving whatever the world throws at them. Martin details different types of ruggedization and how they can improve imaging performance.
About the presenter
Jaylond Martin is an advanced application engineer at Edmund Optics, where he guides customers through the development of imaging and machine vision applications. His expertise includes lens selection, choosing the proper cameras and illumination, and understanding what imaging performance is required for a customer’s end application. Martin received a bachelor’s in physics from The College of New Jersey and is an AIA Certified Vision Professional.
