Multimodal Multiphoton Imaging in Life Sciences Exploration

Presented by: Stefanie Kiderlen, Prospective Instruments

High-quality imaging of samples in 3D and 4D, as well as label-free and non-destructive imaging of unique biomarkers, is becoming more important in understanding cellular mechanisms and their structural and functional relationship. Combining different imaging techniques like non-linear multiphoton microscopy (two-photon, higher harmonics - SHG & THG) and linear widefield microscopy epi-fluorescence and fluorescence lifetime (FLIM) maximizes informational content and yields complementary data sets. A broad range of key uses in life science research including 3D imaging, label-free, deep tissue, live-animal, whole organ, and whole slide imaging can be addressed.

Kiderlen will demonstrate easy-to-use and portable multimodal multiphoton microscopy that can be integrated into a variety of lab and clinical settings to gain orthogonal informational content, enhance imaging depth, and save time in 3D in vivo and ex vivo samples as well as large-area tissue sections. Moreover, she will give a sneak into different imaging projects ranging from clinical research and pathology to R&D applications and fundamental biology.
