Photonic Detectors Across the Spectrum: Enabling Biomedical Spectroscopy
Presented by:
Sujeet Sudhir, Opto Diode Corp.Spectroscopy is a cornerstone of biophotonics, driving advances in diagnostics, molecular biology, and clinical research. The choice of detector directly impacts sensitivity and reliability across applications. Available detectors and emitters span UV through IR, enabling broad utility for biomedical systems. Deep UV photodiodes deliver high stability and low noise for fluorescence detection in DNA sequencing, protein analysis, PCR instruments, and flow cytometry. In the IR, PbS and PbSe detectors, paired with mid-IR emitters, support non- invasive breath analysis, identifying disease biomarkers such as nitric oxide, methane and acetone.
This presentation will show how vertically integrated manufacturing ensures consistency and long-term reliability, making these devices ideal for clinical and research environments. Case studies will highlight custom emitter-detector assemblies in medical analyzers and microbial detection systems. By combining ultraviolet precision with infrared sensitivity, the latest detectors are advancing spectroscopy, improving outcomes, and enabling earlier disease detection.
