How High-Speed Multiphoton Volumetric Imaging Is Driving Higher Spatial and Temporal Resolutions

The desire for imaging the physiological context of cellular behavior and structurally accurate measurements has driven technology development to achieve clearer, faster, and more precise imaging. While trade-offs still exist in different experimental paradigms, high-speed volumetric imaging, including highly accurate imaging that takes into account refractive index gradients inside deep tissue, is allowing for higher levels of functional imaging and spatially accurate measurements in physiologically relevant contexts both in vivo and in vitro. Brendan Brinkman and Cheng-Hao Chien present the latest technologies that are enabling high-speed multiphoton volumetric imaging to maximize both spatial and temporal resolution in deep imaging applications.

Brendan Brinkman, Life Science New Business Strategy, spent years working in the stem cell field, including primary mouse neurosphere derivation. After several years as a core imaging facility manager helping to build novel systems, he joined Olympus. About Cheng-Hao Chien
Cheng-Hao Chien, Ph.D., is an associate product manager in the Life Science/Scientific Solutions Group of Olympus America Inc. located in Waltham, Mass. He received his doctorate in biophotonics from National Yang-Ming University in Taiwan and pursued postdoctoral training at the Department of Neuroscience at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. With a decade of experience in advanced microscopy and life science research, he joined Olympus in 2020 and is currently responsible for multiphoton microscopy and customized solutions.
