Keynote Speakers Present on Optics and Photonics Technologies

Taking center stage at the conference, three keynote speakers will share insights on deep metabolic and structural imaging, drug monitoring using Raman spectroscopy, and label-free fluorescence lifetime imaging.

MIT’s Sixian You returns to the BioPhotonics Conference as keynote speaker of Microscopy track with Deep and High-Throughput Nonlinear Optical Microscopy. She will discuss how her team exploits nonlinear effects in standard multimode fibers to create unique light sources for biomedical imaging, forming the basis of the deep simultaneous label-free autofluorescence multiharmonic (dSLAM) microscope for imaging deep within living tissue.

Jürgen Popp of the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology keynotes the Spectroscopy track with Advancing Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Through Raman Spectroscopy. His talk highlights Raman-based techniques for optimizing pharmacotherapy—particularly antibiotics with narrow therapeutic windows—offering pathways toward personalized medicine and improved outcomes.

Laura Marcu of UC Davis will keynote the Imaging track with Advancing Interventional Cardiology with Label-Free Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging. She will present an approach that integrates intracoronary fluorescence lifetime imaging with intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography, providing high-resolution, real-time insight into plaque vulnerability for improved coronary artery disease diagnosis and treatment.
